I grew up in a house where horrible pictures were taken. Heads were chopped. Backgrounds were brutal. Red eye. Bad angles. Every here and there you got a decent picture. How many pictures of the dinner table did we need? Or the tree out front?
It wasn't until I was older that I started to see what photographs could look like...the potential that they possessed. I saw the art form that it was and found myself buying cool photographs because normal, real people didn't take good photos...artists did. Well I must be pretty lucky because I know a few close people who take some damn good pics.
Ryan Quinn is one of those people. He has helped me to see things with a new eye. I follow him on tumblr where he has countless photographs that I would purchase (if only they were for sale). Recently he entered a competition and tonight I viewed it and cast my vote. It was the least I could do for all of the beauty and inspiration he has brought to me.
