Watch a Live Concert of Gavin on AOL
Years ago a group of us went to a concert. There was an opening act...ya know those bands or singers that you talk through? Or go to the bathroom and miss...or grab a beer while they are singing. Well, THIS particular singer grabbed our attention. His name was Gavin DeGraw and he did a cover of Marvin Gaye's "Let's Get it On". We were mesmerized. Jenne, Tina and I became fans. We traveled to many a concert: The Stone Pony in Asbury Park, Croc Roc in Allentown, Tink's in Scranton to name a few. Each time we screamed the songs on the way and then made fun of ourselves while in line with oodles of young girls waiting to see the cute guy who sang the song from that show. We weren't there for the "pop" songs from the radio. We were there for the soulful ballads and creative journeys he took us on. Ok, ok...and he is a cutie pie...I admit. It was back then he earned the nickname McYummy. But honestly there is just something about him in concert. Live. Guitar, piano, hats and sweaty tshirts. He sings about real stuff and is more than just a few trendy lyrics. I keep hoping that he stays true to his roots and the importance of a well written song and I think this new album shows potential. Another tough day but as I sat at my computer for the first time in a long time due to power outages I was greeted by a special event on AOL. It was just what I needed. So Thanks to Facebook for the reminder, to AOL for the live event and to Gavin for healing up quickly and getting back to your fans. Can't wait for the new album!
